Terri & Sandy names its first chief creative officer

Terri & Sandy has named Amy Ferguson its first chief creative officer, as the indie New York agency continues to build a leadership team for the future beyond its namesake co-founders.
Ferguson joins as partner and CCO on Oct. 20, taking the creative reins from co-founder Sandy Greenberg, who remains CEO. Concurrent with Ferguson’s appointment, Peyton Sutton—who joined as agency president last year upon the retirement of co-founder Terri Meyer—has also been named a partner at the firm.
Ferguson most recently spent a year and a half as CCO and partner at Special US. Before that, she spent six years at TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, including two and a half years as CCO. Ferguson previously helped open and grow MullenLowe’s New York office, where she led the JetBlue account and helped create the viral “FlyBabies” activation. She has also worked at Grey and as a freelancer.
Special US shared that it would name her successor in New York soon.
“We want to thank Amy for her incredible contribution to Special and wish her every success in her next chapter,” Kelsey Hodgkin, CEO of Special US, said in a statement to Ad Age. “As we look ahead, we’re excited to be introducing new creative leadership to Special New York—talent deeply committed to our twin values of craft and cultural excellence.”
A new creative day at the female-founded shop
Ferguson is known for her warm, people-led leadership style and for developing strong brand platforms with a modern edge to the storytelling.
Special New York doubled its revenue during her tenure, a rep for Special confirmed, winning business from Bumble (for which it rolled out the new “For the Love of Love” platform), Planet Fitness and the National Peanut Board. At Chiat, her creative successes included Hilton’s 10-minute TikTok ad and Adidas’ “Billie Jean King Your Shoes.”
At Terri & Sandy, she inherits a client roster that includes Princess Cruises, Freshpet, Revlon, Welch’s, My/Mochi and Mars’ Kevin’s Natural Foods. She assumes the creative mantle of a proudly female-founded shop with ambitions to grow. Terri & Sandy has seen strong momentum of late, including being named Independent Agency of the Year at Ad Age’s 2025 A-List Awards.
“Ever since Amy freelanced for us years ago, I’ve been following her many epic successes,” said Greenberg. “When we started our search, I told Peyton, ‘I want someone like Amy Ferguson’—never thinking we would get the real Amy Ferguson.”
“Amy’s values perfectly align with ours, and her experience will greatly deepen our expertise in social, experiential and culture-first creative thinking,” added Sutton.
Ferguson said she is eager to take on the challenge of leading the 15-year-old shop creatively.
“As a female creative, I’m particularly excited and inspired to join an agency that was founded and led by fellow female creatives. And with now being the indie renaissance, how amazing to get to help lead one of the OG indies,” she told Ad Age.
Ferguson said her job will be no different than it’s always been: to push, craft and elevate the work while keeping her teams motivated and engaged. She said her goal is to take the “great foundation of effective work and strong client partnerships and use that to push us into new spaces. Bigger ideas brought to life in more unexpected ways. More cultural, PR-led work with beautifully crafted design at its heart.”
She will also be focused on agency culture—“People who are having fun and who feel safe and cared for do better work, period,” she said—and on creating work that works, and that people can’t ignore.
“Terri & Sandy has always been about creating big platforms and campaigns that are incredibly effective,” she said. “At the end of the day, if the work—no matter how amazing—doesn’t do anything for our clients’ business, then what are we even doing here? Terri & Sandy is an agency that understands and lives that.”
